Job Description:
A Manhattan-based hedge fund is seeking an Investment Reporting Data Analyst. It’s a Data Analyst/Reporting role that will work with the firm's existing database and current/historical fund information (mostly in Excel) to generate reports for the firm's Investor Relations Team (largely for investor consumption) and for the Investment Team (for their internal reports – e.g., exposure, etc.).
This is a new role that offers an exciting opportunity to play a central part in the firm's data analytics and reporting infrastructure.
Candidates Must Have 5+ Years of Hedge Fund or Credit Fund Experience
Responsibilities:

Track, monitor, and report the performance of a series of private equity and credit funds

Understand all aspects of the firms’ complex investments to discuss and explain performance with internal managers and clients

Perform financial and quantitative analysis on the firm’s portfolio investments

Respond to portfolio manager requests for risk exposure and concentration risk

Will work on performance analysis and reports, fund valuation, waterfall calculations, and fund fees

Will work with technology to develop KPI dashboards that provide timely analysis of fund performance

Work with technology to improve (automate) the reporting processes of the firm to respond to investors' requests for data and performance details
Requirements:

Must have 5+ years working as a fund performance or portfolio reporting analyst with a firm that has complex and illiquid private equity and credit investments

Must have a deep understanding of how a complex private equity investment fund works

Must have strong financial reporting and analysis skills covering performance, valuation, waterfall calculations for fund distribution, and fees.

Must have data analysis technical skills: SQL, Python

Must have advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting software

Must have experience using business intelligence and data visualization tools, Tableau. Looker

Preferred a Masters degree in a quantitative field, statistics, or finance degree. Fund Accounting academic work is preferred

Preference will be given to candidates who have strong statistical and data skills for insightful analysis

Nice to have: Understanding of asset pricing, econometric models, time-series analysis, and macroeconomics

The role requires superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to deliver complex information in written and oral presentation forms.
